General Election

Just a reminder to all of you in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales that (if you had possibly been on planet mars for the past few weeks and only just got back) that there is a General Election – so if you have a vote GO OUT AND VOTE AT SOME POINT TOMORROW (or today if you are reading this on Thursday)!
Sorry, it’s just that particularly as a woman, women died for me to get the vote – so the least I can do is turn out and put a cross in a box. Also, you see in countries that are only just becoming democracies people are queuing for hours to vote, and we in this country just take that right for granted.
For our last election, less then 60% of the electorate voted, and only 24% of those people who could vote actually voted for Tony Blair.
You may not think that your vote counts, but just remember the 2000 American Presidential Election, only a few hundred votes swung the result for Bush (whatever we think of him).
I guess what I’m saying is that you have the right, almost duty to go and vote for the people who will govern our country for the next 5 years, so don’t wasted it.
YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!
