Product lables

On a Myer hairdryer: "Do not use while sleeping".
(Darn, and that's the only time I have to work on my hair).
On a bar of Palmolive soap "Directions: Use like regular soap". (And that would be how???)
On some frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost". (But, it's just a suggestion).
On Nanna's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down". (Well...duh, a bit late, huh)!
On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating".
(And you thought????...)
On packaging for a K-Mart iron: "Do not iron clothes on body".
(But wouldn't this save me more time?)
On Boot's Children Cough Medicine:
"Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication".
(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5 year olds with head colds off those forklifts.)
On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness".
(And...I'm taking this because???)
On a Japanese food processor: "Not to be used for the other use".
(Now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)
On Nobby's peanuts: "Warning: contains nuts". (Talk about a news flash!)
On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts".
(Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)

I don't blame the company, I blame the parents for this one:
On a child's superman costume:
"Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly".
On a Swedish chainsaw:
"Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals".(Was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)

Itchy Feet

I have been getting the urge to go travelling for a few months now and I just feel like I need to get away. I have become really jealous of a couple of my mates – Fi, who’s gone to China, and Kathy, who’s going round the world - as they can just quit everything and go travelling for, in Kathy’s case, several months. At the moment I can’t really, because I will be at college until June, and then hopefully doing my NQT (newly qualified teacher) year from September. After that, hopefully I will be staying at the school for a few years. Therefore, the first real opportunity to go travelling is in about 5/6 years time. I was talking to James about this the other day, and he said something, which I hadn’t really thought about. He said that he would rather be in my position, with training for a career, which I am loving at the moment, and a focus and a direction in life. It got me thinking, why do we never see the good things that we have? Why do we always “want that one”?

School Practice so far

Normal apologises for not blogging before, but for the last 2 weeks my life has pretty much been an existence. I'm not complaining, because I am loving it. I just feel that I get up in the morning, go to school, come back from school, do school related work, like marking, lesson planning, preparing rescources etc, and then going to bed. At the weekends it's pretty much lesson planning, marking and rescource making. When I'm not doing that its basically either home group, church or hanging out with some of my mates from church, which may or may not include putting nail varish on James's toe nails! (he asked us to!I didn't get time to put the mascara on which he also wanted) I know what you're going to say - this is what teaching is, and yes I know it is, and a lot more besides. It's just taking me ages to do things that takes fully qualified teachers about 15 mins. I will get quicker at it, given time.
My class are lovley, or can be when my teacher is in. However, last week my class teacher was out on a course and left me in charge for the day, so my class decided to act up. I was not having any of it. We did lots of sitting in silence practice, and also moving around the classroom in silence practice. I was kinda mean to them, and have since started to be a little more positive with them, and it is paying off. They have been better for me since then, even if my teacher has not been in the room.
So other things - um, well Argyle still can't win away from home, Liverpool still can't score goals (or at least winning goals) and England well, still can't beat France. Kimi started the season well - it's going to take time to get used to this new qualifying system.
Last weekend it was my Grandparent's Golden Wedding Anniversary. We all went over for a lunch, which was really nice.
So that is pretty much all that has been happening for the past few weeks.
