From despair to raputre.... and all stations inbetween!
At 7.45 last night, I was full of anticipation, excitement and nerves. However, by 8.30pm I was contemplating suicide. At about 9.05 I was feeling delirious, which turned into nerves by 9.30 and around 10.15 I was in shock and having minor heart attacks. By the time we got to 10.45pm I was over the moon and on cloud 9 (if cloud 9 is over the moon!).
You might ask the reason for this. The answer is that at 7.45 Liverpool kicked off their Champions League Final against AC Milan, and for those who were on Jupiter last night and have not read papers this morning here’s what happened.
At about 7.46 we were already 1-0 down and by half time (8.30) we were 3-0 down! (hence the suicidal feelings). By 9.05 we had clawed our way back to 3-3 (hence feeling delirious). However at the end of normal time and knowing that extra time and penalties were on their way, the nerves set in. During extra time I just had this feeling that we would have to go to penalties, hence shock and minor heart attacks.
Extra time came and went with no goals, so it went to a penalty shoot out.
Then came the penalties themselves! Each time a player stepped up to take one I had a minor heart attack. When Dudek (Liverpool’s goal keeper) saved that last penalty the pub went wild (myself included). The jubilation carried on, particularly when Stevie G picked up the trophy, which was about 10.45.
This morning, still feeling elated. Funny game, football. It can alter the mood of a person in the matter of seconds (or 6 mins to be precise). I still hate penalty shootouts, they are just so nerve raking and that’s just for us fans!
Now I have just got my voice back having been shouting and screaming at the tv all night.
I just want to say this LIVERPOOL ARE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!
