Spotted: Pirates out in Lincoln

Well - due to KT complaining about the lack of up-to-date-ness of some blogs, I thought I better put up another post.
Tuesday night was flipping brilliant. About 10 or so of my college mates went out in Lincoln, to celebrate a couple of people's birthdays. However, Tracy (my partner during my paired placement) decided that we ought to be pirates for the occasion, so all of us were dressed as pirates. We all had piratey names, and ships, which had places of birth as well. We had:
Admiral Scarlet Fever, who sailed the Gutted Shark, which sailed from Falmouth;
Captain Stereotype, who sailed the Jolly Roger from Treasure Island;
Captain West, who sailed the good ship Devonport from Plymouth (bet you can't guess who that was!)
Captain Chav, who sailed the good ship Vauxhall Nova from Liverpool;
Rear Admiral Cliché, who sailed the Campus Maximus from Grimsby;
Crewman Longshangs, who sailed with Admiral Scarlet Fever.
(sorry but I can't remember any of the other names we had)
At a couple of pubs along the way we were asked to give our (plastic) swords to the bouncers!
We had a fab night, which ended at about 2am, when we were kicked out of Scream.
Finally got to bed at about 3, and then some of us went for a nice fried breakfast the next morning, or rather lunchtime.

Franderella - the panto!

Due to conversations over msn - one of my friends - Gemma Shuttleworth has decided that I "live in a castle at the top of a mountain in Lincolnshire", and that I escape to London and Plymouth to live a "simper life"! From that came her saying I was "Cinderella", which we then change to "Franderella". Due to me saying - we need a ball, she came up with - ball, football, Home Park, so that is where it is set! We then came up with some friends who would play each part so:

Ladies and Gentlemen! Please take your seats for the performance of Franderella!
Starring:

Frances Brebner as Franderella
David Norris as the Prince -because he's my favorite Argyle Player
David Bennett and Kimberley Phillips as the Ugly Step Sisters - Dave because in Panto its always men that play the sisters, and Kimbo because she pulls a scarey face that scares Gemma sometimes
Sarah Hayes as the Fairy Godmother - because "she's very squeaky" (according to Gemma)
Pete Jermey as Buttons - because he's sweet chirpy
and Tim and Gemma Shuttleworth as a mouse footpeople, also Gemma as an understudy for the pumpkin.

So there is the cast for the production of Franderella - fortunately not coming to a theatre near you in the foreseeable future!

Plymouth rocks - its official!

Yesterday afternoon/evening I drove back from spending the weekend in "the best (city) in the west" (Plymouth!) - the quote is from the announcer at Home Park, who says that at the beginning of every match.
I had an absolutely fab time, catching up with all my friends, going to my old church and catching up with people there, wandering round the city centre and the barbican. The only thing I didn't get to do was go to Plymouth famous Capan Jaspers!
I did manage to get to see the Argyle boys in action at Home Park - the first time since the end of August, and it was a much better performance then the last time I saw them there - and shock horror- THEY WON!!!!!!!!!!!!. That wasn't the reason that I went down before anyone says anything!
It was weird how it wasn't weird going back to Plymouth - which I know does not make sense, but in Fran's green, red and white fluffy world it does.
When I got to the Marsh Mills roundabout and saw the sails on the Sainsbury's there I just had to smile. I was back in Plymouth! For those who have no idea what I'm talking about sorry - but those who do - you know exactly what I mean.
So, apart from that, placement continued well, got a good report from it, so that's all good.
Tonight am going to a Pirate Party for my partner during placement.

DON'T MENTION THE FOOTBALL

What a waste of time, effort and money! I have no one to blame but myself. On Saturday I dragged my poor, long suffering dad to Portman Road to watch Ipswich take on the mighty mighty Argyle boys. We lost 3-1, with two goals coming from corners and the final coming from a penalty, which at first I didn’t think was a penalty, but having watched the um, I want to say highlights (apart from Buzsaky’s goal), but can’t, it was a penalty. It then took us about 45-50 mins to get back out of Ipswich and onto the road home.
The ground itself – decent enough place – though the concrete on which the seats had been put had not been cleaned before that seats had been put on, which made it seem dirty and untidy. I found that there was not enough legroom – and I do not have the longest legs in the world so what it must have been like for those with longer legs I wouldn’t like to think.
As is normal for us Argyle fans, we seemed to make more noise then the home fans, who weren’t even singing when they scored a goal – so we were able to sing “1-0 and you still wont sing!” at them, which we enjoyed. The most frustrating thing about it was that our manager did not make one change to the team – even when we went 3-1 down!
We must hope for better things for the boys in green and white in the future.
