2005 - the year that was
So another year is over, and a new one has begun and with it a whole load of new year resolutions made but never kept. I managed to stagger out of bed to get to church at 9.15 on New Year's day, and I'm glad that I did. Martyn Shea (the rector at St George's - the church I go to) was talking about looking back and praising God for the things that happened over the past year. I said earlier that last year was crap - however there are many things that were fantastic about 2005:
- Making all the new friends that I have at college and my new Church
- Getting the place on the course that I wanted (eventually!)
- Spending time with all my friends in Plymouth and getting to know them better
- Growing closer to God through all the trials that I had last year - which is prob the best thing about 2005.
- Liverpool winning the Champions League in the most spectacular fashion (sorry - had to get that in!)
Martyn then went on to say that perhaps our New Year's resolutions should be that we pray that in 2006 we would have Jesus as number 1 in our lives and that everything we do, we would do it for Jesus. During that service we sang - All for Jesus, which again got me thinking that it should be my prayer and my resolution for this coming year. Will keep you updated if I manage to keep it!
